So you want to learn more about who I am or wonder about my experience?
I totally get it. I am a start up business so that is a legit thing to wonder about!
I’m a copywriter by trade but I think going beyond that, I am a writer. I’m just a nerd for words.
Ever since writing my first book in the first grade, I’ve dreamed that I would be a writer.
Gosh, I even remember being in the blogging space during the days when people would say, “What do you do?” I’d answer and then they’d promptly respond with, “And what is your real job?” 2010 was a hard time for writers y’all.
10 years later, I am still writing and it IS my real job! (Technology in marketing had to catch up a bit I guess!)
My History With Writing
From being an English teacher to being a content strategist and all the blogging in between, I know the power of words.
Alright, so maybe I should fill in those 10 years. I have been a blogger in that time for 4 of my own blogs. My first in the wedding industry, the second in the fitness industry, the third in the lifestyle niche and now, currently, I blog for ministry at melinaheavener.com. (Jesus first, Amen). I am also a podcaster now. I write notes and sermons for that, so yeah, I’m still writing. ;-p
I have my bachelor’s degree in English secondary education. That means I studied words, literature classics, and teaching. Writing lessons also has its way of using strategies that have a purpose for an end result for the intended audience. It was students at first, but it translates into marketing!
I am also 36 credit hours into a seminary masters degree. So that means I am practically an expert in researching. (Not that I want to brag about that, it’s so tedious!) But it means I know how to hunt for the things I need to know especially about your brand, niche and business!
When Writing Became Marketing
Now on to my marketing knowledge. Other than being in social media marketing as a blogger, my formal work was at a marketing agency for a couple of years. During that time I got training in Donald Miller’s StoryBrand framework. It is like combing English class with marketing. (I recommend reading his book for your business and messaging for sure).
But there came a time when I worked for that agency where something was missing. Work was given to me from various industries, but I wasn’t the one getting to have the relationship with the clients. As a former teacher and current leader in ministry, I NEED the people aspect. I need to have the inspiration that small business owners and creatives give me.
So that brings us to today. Where I have taken a leap of faith in going at it on my own.
You Are Your Secret Ingredient For Your Business Success
In my ministry, it is all about sharing Jesus, and sharing our story. That just fits so perfectly for me to be in the copywriting business. I love writing and I want to help people be confident in who they are and share it with the world.
And when it comes to business, that is your secret ingredient that will make you stand out.
I want to help your business to have copy that markets you best so that you can do what you love and make an impact on others with what you sell or offer.
If the world had more of that, I think we’d be in a pretty good place. So here I am, helping to make that happen one business at a time!
